The Village of Mto wa Mbu
Manyara National Park
Manyara Wildlife Camp
We first arrived at the village of Mto wa Mbu and did a 2 hour+ walk which included lunch that we helped make! An authentic Swahili lunch with a Swahili family at their Boma (home). Oh and I had banana wine - not bad. Just another incredible experience and the food was very good! We also ended up buying an oil painting - painted by a local family, sampled banana beer in their local pub (which is nothing more than a bamboo framed hut with a banana leafed roof and people sitting in there just drinking), and finally bought a nice Tanzania wood carving made by the Makonde tribe. The wood carving shop was unbelievable. One of the best I've seen.
In the afternoon we arrived at Lake Manyara National Park - an absolutely beautiful park with tons of Wildlife including more elephants then you can possibly imagine - and they were up close and personal! Also saw an African Fish Eagle, wildebeests, zebras, a stubborn water buffalo, flamingos, pumas, and of course tons of baboons!
Checked in a few hours ago to the Manyara Wildlife Camp Lodge and just ate dinner. *Wow probably the best tented Lodge we have stayed at so far. Beautiful place!
That's it for today. Tomorrow we had four the Serengeti!
